" Travel Writing Case"
Travel writing case late 17th century. Wooden structure with a slightly domed cover sheathed in black leather. Interior covered in green leather with several compartments, three of which with cover (one of the covers lacks the leather grip), two open receiving an inkwell and a talcum duster, then a desk housed in the cover. Each locker was used to store paper, feathers, sealing wax sticks, etc. This writing desk closes with two original brass hooks, it has a beautiful ornate keyhole entry for days and fine leafy carvings as well as a brass pull ring. Original lock but missing key. Small offset (3 mm!) Of the cover to be reported relative to the lower part but which does not prevent the hook closure. The leather is in very good condition, both outside and inside, considering the age of the writing desk at least three hundred years. A feat in time when you know the frequent use of this type of object. The leather underneath of course remains the most used, it has nevertheless retained its original protective brass pads. Note: it is rare to have this type of writing desk with its original inkwell and marker.
