Young woman seated in an architectural and landscape background, in a lemon yellow dress and with gauze sleeves, wearing a blue hat with a blue shawl: she plays guitar.
Attributed to Charles Foot Tayler (1794-1853), an English miniaturist active on the Isle of Wight and Bath in the second quarter of the 19th century. His work is close to that of Newton. It uses for light skin tones, which we find here on the face and hands. He paints with crossed brush strokes. The hair and clothes are executed with care, sometimes a little straight. His portraits are often depicted on stylized landscapes. He presented his work from 1820 until 1853 at the artists' salon of the Royal Academy. We find his miniatures in many collections, including that of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (Inv. EVANS 301)
