"Oil On Canvas By Richard Floethe (1901-1988). Young Rider, 1932."
Richard Floethe was born in Germany where he studied at the art school in Munich then at the Bauhaus in Weimar where he became familiar with color with Kandinsky then drawing with Paul Klee. If his first productions were influenced by expressionism, his departure for New York in 1928 opened up new artistic horizons for him. He now dedicates himself mainly to illustration but also paints a few rare works in oil, in a modernist geometric and refined style which often creates a strange feeling of loneliness. Our painting, dated 1932, is a fine example. .
