Oil on canvas signed and dated 1966 on the back After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Zurich, Walter Strack moved to Paris in 1959. Selected for the 4th Paris Biennale, French section, he exhibited at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la City of Paris in 1965 before representing Switzerland at the Mostra internationale d'Arte in Florence. In the early 1960s, in a Parisian artistic climate influenced by Pop art from across the Atlantic, Walter Strack was particularly marked by the advertising and modern images of Lichtenstein, Rosenquist and Wesselman. The sensual forms of the female bodies of his Pop period are woven with ordering obliques which are his visual signature.
