J.g. Wille : Eighteenth Print "the Rest Of The Virgin" Golden Frame

The art of printmaking has lost a lot of fans in recent years because, requiring a minimum of knowledge of techniques and a little attention to understand the subtleties, the young generations have often abandoned it in favor of more “immediate” works, regrettable of course, but this offers real amateurs the opportunity to acquire museum works at very reasonable prices.
Thus, this superb chisel, made in 1776 by Jean-Georges Wille (1715-1808) after the painting by Christian Willem Ernst Dietrich dit Dietricy (1712-1774), German artist who had made a specialty of painting with the like Masters of past centuries, such as Rembrandt, Rubens or Berchem to meet the demand of many amateurs, including his colleagues who appreciated his virtuosity. This sheet, dedicated to Monsignor de Livry Bishop of Callinique by the engraver carries his comtales arms at the base.
Format approximately 33 X 25 cm with the sheet which is assembled in a sober gilded framework XVIIIe (small accidents). Intermediate soiling between the glass and the sheet which has a clear wetting at the bottom right.
