Oil on cardboard 46x38 cm "Portrait of a woman" 1930
Signed and dated lower left
Of Polish origin, born in Warsaw, he went to England, where he was a pupil at the Royal Academy of London from 1894.
He appeared at the first Post Impressionist Exhibition in London in 1910, where he lived and worked.
Influenced in his early days by Rembrandt, he painted numerous scenes of Jewish folklore as well as portraits of actors from the Shakespearean theater. and still lifes.
The portrait of woman that we present, is part of the period of portraits of his work, where he endeavors to represent in a sensitive way the personality of the model. The touch is precise but of great freedom, with a beautiful light effect a little unreal.
