Louis XVI Secretary Stamped Nicolas Petit

Nicolas Petit (1732-1791) - received master cabinetmaker on January 21, 1761

Superb and very elegant upright secretary Louis XVI in satin and amaranth veneer, framing nets in violet wood and rosewood. Cut panels adorned with marquetry grooves and magnificent ornamentation of very finely chiseled gilt bronze (superb quality of the bronzes and mercury gilding).
Large flap with rounded corners revealing a very beautiful theater with ten inlaid drawers with gilded bronze buttons and green leather top with gilded frieze.
Opening two doors at the lower part with two drawers and a large removable cassette forming a safe.

A large drawer in the upper part, capped with a beautiful white molded Carrara marble. All original locks and keys. Locks of exterior clover sashes with a single key for the three locks.

Flap closure at three points.

Louis XVI period work stamped N. PETIT and its Poinçon de Jurande .

Perfect state of conservation - returned to its original condition by our workshop: cleaning of the bronzes (gilding with original mercury), application of a natural french varnish according to traditional methods.
