Blackened Wood Showcase Early Eighteenth

Interesting display case certainly intended to present a statue in a votive chapel. French work in solid wood (oak and walnut) original blackened; beautiful shape topped with a largely curved dome which was to end with a cross at its top but now disappeared. Hinges, lock entry, original lock and key and working; the glass of the door is to be replaced. Interior lined with an old red canvas. Original condition and superb old patina.
