Adrien Manglard is a French painter, engraver, collector, specialist in landscape. French but resolutely Italian in his compositions, godson of Adriaen Van der Kabel who introduced him to the painting of characters, it was while leaving France in 1715 that he discovered the painting of Claude Gellée, whose light effects he retained and perspective. Master of Joseph Vernet, the artist lived nearly 50 years in Italy, where he obtained the most prestigious distinctions and executed numerous orders for illustrious clients.
