Jean Peské Drawing pencil and charcoal located at the bottom right framed under glass: provenance special collection family certificate of the artist a certificate will be given to the buyer. Jean Peské is a French painter, engraver, illustrator of Polish origin by his father and Russian by his mother. After studying at the Kiev School of Painting, then at the School of Fine Arts in Odessa and Warsaw, he left for Paris in 1891 to continue his training at the Julian Academy in Jean-Paul's workshops Laurens and Benjamin Constant. Jean Peské gets closer to the pointillists and in particular to Signac with whom he left for Saint-Tropez in 1893. He also became friends with Sérusier and the Nabis with whom he exhibited at Le Barc de Boutteville until 1896. Peské lives in Montmartre, realizes decorative works, illustration projects and frequent cabarets and café-theaters. In 1905 he moved to Bois-le-Roi, painted trees in the forest of Fontainebleau and members of his family. Peské travels regularly in the South, notably to Collioure and A Bormes where he paints nature, the sea and family scenes with a very colorful palette. In 1926 and 1927, he stayed in Vendée and executed many landscapes. He exhibited at the Salon d'Automne from 1905 to 1945, at the Salon des Tuileries from 1924 to 1949 and at the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts until 1938. Numerous exhibitions were devoted to him, notably in 1909, 1913, 1921 A Galerie Devambez, At Galerie Bernheim in 1909, in 1921, 1922, 1931, 1972 At Galerie Durand-Ruel and Galerie Jean-Claude Bellier devoted exhibitions to him in 1967, 1969, 1970 and 1990.
