Created in 1840 by Noël Baguès, this house was specialized in the manufacturing of liturgical bronzes. In 1880, Noël's son, Eugène Baguès developed the family business by manufacturing lighting bronzes, which was something trendy since the spreading of domestic electricity. Baguès settled in the Marais of Paris. During the inter-war period, Victor and Robert Baguès extended the lighting bronze collection inspired by period style luminaries. These models are copied in the traditional way. Baguès, settled in a building Rue de la Boétie, gained an international recognition. Branches were opened in New York, London, Brussels, Roma and Cairo. The worldwide crisis and an important debt in the United States are responsible for the difficulties Baguès went through at the time. He settled Avenue Raymond Poincaré. In 1957, financial directors lacking of confidence in the future, decided to cut all investments in the Maison Baguès. That is when Jean-Pierre Baguès, son of Victor Baguès, bought the majority of shares on credit, and breathed new life into the company, coming back to its family origins and innovating.
