"« Fête au Village » école flamand , fin du XVIIème siècle"
David Teniers II les Jeunes (Antwerp 1610 - Brussels 1690) "Party in the village" Oil on canvas Canvas measures 76 x 57 frame 94 x 74 Perfect state of conservation Beautiful antique carved and gilded frame This beautiful oil painting on canvas represents the most interesting and sought after Flemish painting. Indeed, in addition to the famous Nature Death, the Belgian and Dutch masters have distinguished themselves throughout Europe for an incredible production of scenes taking place in taverns interiors or outside in villages and countryside. The protagonists of these paintings have always taken on a caricatural appearance with exaggerated expressions and attitudes. The painting published here perfectly expresses the pictorial taste of one of the most famous authors of this type of work, namely the master of Antwerp David Teniers the Younger, son of Teniers the Elder and his pupil as well as the brother of three other valuable painters. In this case, the author abandons the most "unpleasant" representations of taverns with drinkers, smokers, card players, alchemists and "healers", for one of the most successful scenes in his repertoire. It is the joyous and eventful “Fête du Village” described in detail, with a series of carefree dancing characters, others conversely animated or gently close to the friend's ear. From a bark on the roof, a curious overlooks the scene. Two lovers kiss, a drunkard falls asleep on a barrel while in the corner a character turned urine on the wall, in the most typical Flemish pictorial tradition very appreciated by collectors. It is obviously a very pleasant painting, an excellent execution with bright colors and in beautiful conditions, inside a carved and gilded frame which completes it perfectly. Finally note the remarkable size for a type of composition which generally includes small paintings, but which, despite this, maintains a very fine figurative quality click on www.antichitaischia.it
