A multifaceted and prolific artist, Clément-Serveau excelled in painting as well as illustration, printmaking and fresco.
Whether it is the woodcut he practiced as a virtuoso, particularly for the illustration of the books in the Collection which he also ran at Ferenczi's, or the intaglio for the creation of postage stamps or banknotes, print had no secrets for him, which did not prevent him from painting all his life while he was also teaching: one wonders when was he sleeping! Here, this lovely bouquet of nasturtiums in a blue vase plays on the contrast of reds and greens, blues and oranges in a very fawn tone and palette, but well anchored in its time.
