The alfenide is in fact a metal alloy intended to imitate the solid silver invented by Charles Halphen in 1850 and bought by Christofle in 1880. The alfenide has the advantage of being massive and therefore not subject to wear and corrosion like silver metal. This set consists of 12 foucherttes, 12 knives and 2 serving cutlery.
