This oil on cardboard signed (bottom right) Camille Merlaud represents a plowing scene, under a slightly cloudy sky, in the vicinity of Verteillac in Dordogne where the painter used to put his easel. Camille Merlaud (1877-1957), self-taught, originally from Verteillac, painted many landscapes and scenes of rural life in Périgord. He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris and participated in fairs in Holland and England.
