18th Century, Pair of Italian Neoclassical Carved Giltwood Stools

The fine pair of neoclassical stools, made in Sicily (Italy) in the second half of the 18th century, consists of a wooden structure finely carved and gilded. The seat, lined in burgundy silk with golden floral motifs, rests on a circular band tripartite: the first frame is carved with small palmettes;the central one has circular geometric patterns with flower-shaped elements inside;finally, the lower one with geometric motifs stroke-point-point.The four legs, whose feet are inscribed within a quadrangular virtual space, are very rich in their structure. They originate from a Corinthian capital richly carved with acanthus leaves that rests on an element with quadrangular section carved inside. From this depart the legs, truncated inverted pyramid, grooved and ending with foot composed of quadrangular and spherical geometric elements.
The splendid stools, rare and of executive quality, are very decorative and suitable for insertion both in environments with antique furniture and next to modern furniture. They can be designed in a living room, in pairs or individually, next to seats or in a bedroom to support chairs, armchairs or sofas.
