Pierre Deval (1897-1993) "Nude in a green chair", watercolor and pencil on paper 31 X 23 cm well mounted by a Marie-Louise with a golden bevel in a pretty golden frame with an inverted slope decorated with leaves of 47 X 39 cm .
A label on the back, visibly copied from an old one, gives a date "June 12, 1912", but perhaps there was an error during the transcription, because I can hardly believe in front of a watercolor so accomplished, at the crossroads between the styles of Lebasque and Dunoyer de Ségonzac, that it could be the work of a 19-year-old artist, but perhaps it was very precocious ?
It must be said that he was the holder of the prestigious Abd El Tif Prize which gave the right to stay in Algiers in 1922 and became friends with Launois and Marquet with whom he also worked in Morocco.
