"Pair Of Italian Landscapes Signed And Dated 1709"
Antonio Francesco Peruzzini (Ancona 1643 - Milan 1724) "Lake landscape with figures" "River landscape with bridge and figures" A pair of oil paintings on canvas. One dates ad 1709 and the other signed aff on a stump in bs a sx (Anno domini 1709) (Antonio Francesco fecit) Lacquered frame Canvas measures 74 x 99 frame 86 x 110 Excellent conditions. We present this exuberant pair of river and lake landscapes where the real protagonists of the canvases are majestic trees particularly lush and green. The airy and lush natural context is a hymn to nature and leads directly to the studio of Antonio Francesco Peruzzini, a prominent figure in landscape painting between the 17th and 18th centuries. His works are distinguished by the magnificent trees with long stems and large canopies that stand out clearly and with sharp outlines in the blue of the sky. The two canvases have remarkable vigor with precise and decisive brushstrokes, the result of a technique by a navigated painter. The date placed on a pillar at the bottom left of one of the landscapes, in fact takes us to the early 1700s with the Peruzzini now 60 years old and therefore inclined to a more essential and full-bodied painting instead of miniaturist. The result is two real gems of great impact and extraordinary vivacity. The two paintings were done in perfect symmetry with the horizon aligned almost by obtaining a single painting for a large wall.
