Alexandre Rigotard, Entrance To The Port Of La Rochelle

Painting, oil on canvas, representing the entrance to the port of La Rochelle, the Chaîne tower, the St Nicolas tower and the Lantern tower. Alexandre Rigotard was born in Grenoble in 1871. He was a student of Rochegrosse. He moved to Algiers with his parents from 1880. He exhibited Salon des Artistes Français from 1905. He participated in numerous exhibitions including Algiers and Tunis. He has a great mastery of the play of water and light which allows him to obtain numerous distinctions in the Salons. Several museums including Marseille, Aix en Provence, Perpignan, Tunis, Algiers, etc ... keep works by Alexandre Rigotard. Dimensions of the painting with the frame: 0.74 x 0.63m This painting participated in the Salon des Artistes et Orientalistes in Algiers in 1932 and bears the exhibition label on the back of the painting.
