French work, Empire period Superb sofa all in cherry wood with ebony and lemon tree fillet, central decorations carved with an Eagle and Lions with coats of arms signed and dated 1812. Blazon on the left with signature of the cabinetmaker "Jarnan Tourneur" and right coat of arms with inscription "A Barbezieux XDCCCXII". Central part with eagle with quote in cartouche "The distance tightens me" with carved drawing of rope and knots. We have several pieces from the Empire period of the same provenance from a officer in Napoleon's army, visible on our site, which were put on sale successively.
