"Haute Epoque Spoon"
Pewter spoon late 16th century - early 17th century. Among the first metal models known in Europe; the previous ones being in wood. The spoon is also the oldest cutlery used before the knife and fork. This model called "rat-tailed spoon" has a fig-shaped spoon and an eight-sided tapering handle. The spoon has a visible slot of about 10 mm, the handle is slightly curved (certainly due to heavy use). The metal bears traces of wear and erosion: let's call it if you will: the patina of time. And what a weather! A few centuries… A historical document, no doubt a collector's item. I have attached pictures of models approaching the same time for information. Note: this spoon was seen by the expert specializing in old pewter: Mr. Jean-Claude Commenchal. Delivery: 10 € for metropolitan France.
