Marquetry chest of drawers stamped JGSCHLICHTIG. End of the Louis XV period around 1765/1770. Rosewood and satin wood marquetry in rosewood frames highlighted with green tinted wood threads on an oak frame. It opens with five drawers in three rows. Clogs, chutes, handles, keyholes and apron in gilded bronze. Royal red marble top. I * G * SCHLICHTIG stamp and JME jurande hallmark on the left rear upright. Jean Georges SCHLICHTIG obtained his master's degree in 1765 and settled in rue du faubourg Saint-Antoine. His talent will eventually lead him to work for Queen Marie Antoinette.
