"Old Print By Dirck Volckertsz Coornhert From The Suite Of The Parable Of The Good Samaritan"
According to Maarten van Heemskerck ca.1549 Hollstein: 105 to 108 Dirck Volkertszoon Coornhert was a Dutch engraver, poet, philosopher, humanist theologian, jurist and politician at the same time. Born in 1522 in Amsterdam, he moved to Haarlem (around 1545), where he founded his engraving workshop (1547) and worked in collaboration with the painter Maarten van Heemskerck, of whom he was one of the brilliant interpreters. He then gave up engraving to establish himself as a publisher in 1560. He trained famous engravers :
