Very beautiful portrait of a man in three-quarter length bust, wearing a midnight blue coat with large buttons (of glass, it seems) and a red waistcoat with large blue stripes.
On the back, mention of the subject's age (46 years), the initials of his name (JA) and the date 1796.
The name "Ammann" was added later in pencil; it is probably the surname of the subject.
