LUIS XII OF FRANCE AND ANA OF BRITTANY LARGE UNIFACE PLATES OF THE CELEBRATED MEDAL MADE TO THE LION IN 1499 IN HONOR OF THE KING AND ANA OF BRITTANY AND IT IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MEDALISTIC PIECE OF THE FRENCH RENAISSANCE. IT WAS MADE BY NICOLAS LE CRERC AND JEAN LEPERE, ON THE DESIGN OF THE PAINTER PERREAL. THE ORIGINAL OF THIS GOLD MEDAL IS NOT PRESERVED, KNOWN BY A FEW BRONZE EXAMPLES DISTRIBUTED IN THE MOST IMPORTANT COLLECTIONS AND MUSEUMS, ALMOST LATER THAN THE TIME OF THE MEDAL.
