"18th Century Carved Wood Bolster"
Saddle representing a Native American in richly carved tilleuil wood resting on a pine base. He wears a turban decorated with feathers and pearls supporting a tray. The character has all the attributes representative of Native American hunters such as headdress, loincloth, quiver and arrows as well as jewelry sets carved around the neck and wrists. At its feet a stylized eagle waiting and the whole is in a very good general condition of sculptures and polychromy. We can find representations of Amerindians of this type on French clocks from the second half of the 18th century.
