Hondio.1631 "French text on the back The first edition of the Atlas of Mercator-Hondius was published with a Latin text in 1606 by Jodocus Hondius the father. This Atlas, which enjoyed immense editorial success in the 17th century, founded modern cartography. His son Henricus Hondius reissued the Atlas in 1631 without its large decorative border.
