"F. Canot, Rare Suite, 6 Canned Chairs, Louis XV Period. Lyon."
Rare beautiful suite in very good condition with 6 cane chairs signed by the renowned cabinetmaker and sculptor François CANOT, brother-in-law of NOGARET, Lyon mid-18th century, Louis XV period. These 6 seats feature 12 different richly carved floral motifs, the top motif and the belt motif not having the same sculpture. The whole: animated belts with double frames of relief nets, falling in the same way on arched bases surmounted by all different foliage there too, feet finished in the form of dice, seat structures and backrests in very good condition, as well as the Cream cane with sea green braces, just like the color, reflect the real fine workmanship of F CANOT. Nothing is to be done on this suite made to serve fluently. Chairs with their own patties whose fabrics will be changed according to taste. CANOT's characteristic signature is stamped on the flat back of the seat. * François CANOT born in Paris in 1721, settled in Lyon in 1746, married NOGARET's sister in 1748, died in Lyon in 1786.
