"Louis XV Commode Dite à Mustaches"
Chest of drawers curved all sides in marquetry with four drawers opening on three rows separated by brass rods. Aleppo Breccia marble top (restored). This type of chest of drawers is said to have mustaches since the position of the cornucopias is reminiscent of mustaches. Amaranth wood veneer arranged in a crimp. Softwood case and drawer bottoms in walnut and ash. Copper grooves on the middle rails and on the sides. Rich set of gilded bronzes (original gilding) with sunflower flower patterns for the drop handles, curly leaves for the keyholes. The uprights are decorated with bronze figures in Spanish. Apron enhanced with a mask and acanthus leaves, as for the feet. Stamped twice "IMC" (Jean Mathieu CHEVALIER) cabinetmaker received master in 1743. Period: 1st half of the 18th century.
