"Art Deco Dining Table And 6 Chairs"
Superb dining set for 12/14 place settings, including a table and six gondola-shaped chairs in amboyna burl veneer. Rectangular table with central leg composed of four boxes with molding projection for the base and retractable legs recessed under the top for the installation of extensions. The table has its three original central extensions, in raw wood. The chairs are in solid mahogany with the interior backrest in burlwood veneer of amboyna. These chairs offer great comfort thanks to the so-called "gondola" shape. New re-upholstery with crumpled ivory velvet. All restored with buffer varnish finishes. The exotic wood of Amboyna or Kiaboca is considered to be one of the most beautiful ornamental woods. Its rich and capricious veins of reddish or yellowish design intertwine in a multitude of very fine nodes which cross. The furniture and objects in Amboyna burl are luxury fabrications. This very fine-grained wood is used in cabinet-making as very thin veneer, inlays, marquetry or ornamental nets. Amboyna wood comes from Asia, Singapore, Borneo, and Amboyna in Indonesia.
