Porcelain Monkey - Meissen (according To) - XIXth

Large figure of the monkey holding a fruit, seated on a trunk decorated with flowers and foliage, in polychrome enameled porcelain on a bronze base. Model made after a model by Johan Joachim Kaendler (1706-1775), sculptor of the Meissen porcelain factory. This great ape served as a model for several porcelain factories, notably in Saxony.
We have thus listed several signed copies from the Potschappel factory at the end of the 19th century, made in 3 sizes.
Due to the bronze frame, the base and the mark of our copy are not visible, nevertheless the polychromy and the invoice of the sculpture allow us to attribute it to a work of the XIXth century in the style of Meissen. Rf: a similar model is kept in Sèvres at the National Museum of Ceramics.
