Object description :

"Provençal Arlésien Sliding Buffet In Walnut, Eighteenth Century"
This typical Provençal piece of furniture offered as a wedding gift presents a warm blond walnut molded with many fine sculptures. It opens in the lower part with two deeply sculpted doors with asymmetrical fretwork and oak leaves, bringing longevity to the couple. The false dormant decorated with vines and vine leaves. Above this false sleeper, two stylized hearts in contact are caught in a medallion. On each side, roses and attributes of wheat are visible, the latter bringing fortune. The olive branches present on the low cross of the buffet give prosperity to the couple and to the home. In the center, this soup tureen or vase is also a symbol of marriage and is typically from the Arles region. The uprights are also sculpted and end with beautiful roll-up feet. The sides with chapel. In the upper part, the sliding window giving its name by shortcut to the entire piece of furniture opens with two sliding doors and a tabernacle carved with a Provencal bouquet. The sliding doors are framed by fluted columns. The sliding made it possible to highlight the most beautiful household objects. This wedding furniture came to us in excellent condition with its original backs, locks and keys, as well as its impressive fittings. 18th century period.
