Claude Schürr was born in Paris in 1921 and died in Cannes in 2014. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1938 to 1942, taught at the Académie Ranson as well as at the École des Arts et Métiers in Paris.
He exhibited in various salons in Paris such as the Salon d'Automne, the Indépendants, the Tuileries, the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts ...
In 1948, he won the Prix Antral and in 1950 the Grand Prix National des Arts.
