Francesco de Mura is a painter of history, portraits and religious subjects, born in Naples on April 21, 1696 and died in the same city on August 19, 1782. He was first a pupil of Domenico Piola, then of Solimena. From his childhood he showed extraordinary dispositions, while still a teenager he painted the frescoes in the Church of San Nicola alla Carita in Naples as well as ten paintings of the Virtues and an adoration of the Magi for the Church of Santa Maria Donnaromita.
