"EP Empress, Russia" Born to French-Canadian parents in Worchester, Massachusets, Norman Laliberte spent his youth in Montreal. Returning to the United States, he obtained a master's degree in arts education from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. After a few years of teaching, his artistic career took off in 1964 at the New York Universal Exhibition where he designed 88 banners for the Vatican pavilion. Prolific and versatile artist LALIBERTE was in turn painter, sculptor and designer. His generous and energetic work, vibrant with colors and lights, symbolic and paradisiacal, interprets the themes of play and joy, fertility and love, abundance and joy. He is also the author and illustrator of several books. With more than 100 individual exhibitions in the United States and Canada, his works can also be found in more than 75 prestigious institutions, such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Smithsonian Institute of Washington or the Nelson A.
