"Small Goose Lamp With Circus Attributes"
Small spelter lamp or nightlight made by Aristide Ranieri, Italian sculptor and ceramist born in Viareggio in 1865 and died after 1929. Coming from a dynasty of Tuscan marble sculptors. he was sent to Paris by his father to open a branch of the company in the 14th arrondissement in 1893. He executed many works in the Art Nouveau style, mainly in bronze, spelter, biscuit, terracotta and plaster. Note one of the very first appearances at the beginning of the 20th century of the "French manufacturing / Made in France / Paris" seal, set up in response to the industrial and artistic protectionism launched by the English and then the Germans at the end of the 19th century.
