Bronze Buddha, the "Mudrà" of "the taking of the earth" or that of meditation, which symbolize the different episodes of night and awakening, the setting in motion of the "wheel of the law", associated at the first teaching of the Buddha at Sàrnàth. Our bronze Buddha with its original gilding dating from the 17th century is of Chinese origin. With a great finesse of execution, as well as a great simplicity, it testifies to a great nobility in its expression and it is a perfect example of the Buddhist art of the XVIIth century in China.
