XVIII Century, Pair of Italian Half-moon Lacquered Giltwood Neoclassical Consoles

These elegant wooden consoles finely carved, lacquered and golden, fully represent the taste that was established in Naples, in Italy, at the end of the eighteenth century, in the Neoclassical era.
The consoles are half-moon, lacquered in white and have a top in white Carrara marble. The band below the floor is carved with refined golden phytomorphic decorations and heads of putti neoclassical style inscribed in elegant frames and reserves.Medusa’s head is carved in the middle.
The four legs are truncated pyramid inverted with gold carvings to form geometric reserves, floral decorations and palmette pattern on the four feet.

In the important Italian palaces, since the seventeenth century and then throughout the eighteenth century the consolles were among the most sought-after furnishings, emblem of the wealth of the client, to show off in the large halls of representation. This type of highly decorative furniture is still today of great scenic effect and contributes to the elegance and sophistication of any room that houses it, whether modern or antique.
This pair of consoles is particularly bright thanks to the light colour of the lacquer and marble pine, intensified by the preciousness of the gold leaf. The consoles are very beautiful displayed in pairs, but they can also be collated separately in the entrance hall or in the studio, in a living room or in a bedroom. They can also be designed side by side to form a single round table to be placed as a center room.
