"Bodhisattva Kannon - Sandstone From Bizen - Showa Era"
Bizen sandstone statue "Goma" style representing the Bodhisattva Kannon and a standing worshiper praying. The hair is brought back in a bun above the latte replacing the usual tiara that we know. Dressed in an interlaced toga revealing his torso as well as a bulging abdomen. A rope serving as a belt falls between his legs revealing a relatively well-made knot. His right hand is in "Prithvi Mudra", while in his left hand holds a jade vial. Here we find a masculine trait form of the Bodisattva of Compassion and Mercy, Kannon. Although in China it is represented in a female form, in the rest of Southeast Asia its representation is rather male. Conditions: Perfect condition - Very nice patina. Dimensions: Height: 43 cm; Length: 14 cm; width: 13 cm. Period: Japan Showa Era (1926-1989) - Around 1950.
