"Vosges Sandstone Well And Its Haute Epoque Fittings"
This exceptional Haute Epoque ironwork adorns this well whose Vosges sandstone coping was substituted for the original in the 19th century. The uprights, with a section of 45 mm squared, with swollen holes, crowned spheres, keep the cross member fixed by tenons and wedges under which is hung its original wrought iron pulley. Volutes assembled by wound rings comfort and embellish this portico. In the center, a set of volutes rises on which the axis of a weather vane soars. Work no doubt of Spanish influence, the Vosges including Alsace until 1675, Lorraine until 1766 like Franche-Comté until 1678 were possessions of the Holy Empire.
