"Icon Of Southern Russia Late 18th Century."
Icon of southern Russia, late 18th century. The icon, made in egg tempera on canvas and a pinstriped panel, represents the prophet Elijah between Saints Paolo Appostolo and Stefano protomartire. The icon was certainly born to meet the demands of a pricisa client since it does not offer a classic iconographic model but represents the saints requested directly by the client. The rich gold leaf decorations that adorn the robes of the saints are the classic expression of the iconographic school of Vecta, easily recognizable also for the richness of the details and for the variety of colors. The icon is in a discreet state of conservation.
