On the flat of the blade "Manuf re Nle de Chatellerault bre 1849" and two punches on the heel (one of which, crowned, similar to one of the punches on the guard branch).
Four hallmarks on the guard branch of the brass frame: star B, star S and two less legible ones.
Three magazine strikes: Two old ones, 256 and 263, crossed out as well as the final number: 2141.
On the reverse, another crossed out strike: 2039.
On the scabbard, at the same number as the guard (first ring of bail): 2141
The watermark of original 18-turn twisted brass is intact and the frame sheepskin in perfect condition as well.
