"Superb Louis XIII Case In Red Tortoiseshell, Silver, Hard Stone Plates"
Stunning Louis XIII period box, partially blackened and carved wood base, covered with red tortoiseshell plaques, framed of 4 twisted solid silver columns, plaques of hard/semi-precious stone panels (Siena marble, lapis lazuli and red Lepento), with its geniune interior marbled paper (which was released from an ancient red velvet crimson, and don't there remain on one of the interior side), an engraved ex libris bearing a coat of arms, and mirror under the canopy, framed by a kind of painter's laque.
The hinges and the brass lock entrance are finely opened chiseled and bet.
Perfect condition (cleaned by a professional workshop); to report 2 old breaks on 2 of the stone plates, without missing part (see last photo), due to the age of the box.
Perfect for great Cabinets de Curiosité and Haute époque, a real gem itself, if you don't put others inside !
