Object description :

"Manuscript Book Medicine & Freemasonry"
Rare & curious handwritten anonymous note book collating various and curious medical remedies and very many notes relating to Freemasonry and to Scottish and French rites (rank, rank, postures, ... )

Double entry notebook (reading in both directions of the pages by turning it over), the vellum binding with at the beginning a bellows to be used to collect powders or some medicinal plants.

Lace used to close the book. This text was for domestic use, which obviously explains any signature and any name of its author, as well as its dating.
The type of writing and the syntax used nevertheless attest to a period from the beginning of the XIXth century, perhaps very late XVIIIth century.

These works are relatively rare and confidential but can be explained by the occult side of their subject. They are a fascinating witness to the traditions & customs of these corporatist organizations which have always intrigue, and even today. About 100 sheets, some in the center still blank
