"Great Painting XVII School Of Francesco Bassano The Sheep Shearing"
Superb and large 17th century oil painting representing an animated scene with sheep shearing in an Italian landscape. Very characteristic painting of the school of Francesco Bassano the Younger (Bassano del Grappa, 1549 - Venice, 1592) in this second half of the XVIth century, all flourishing Venice welcomes some famous painters, the best known being: Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese and Bassano. The latter's fame earned him the name of his hometown where he worked in a large workshop with his four sons. This painting represents a scene of shepherds with in the foreground a man and a woman picnicking, on the side two other people are shearing sheep while in the background others are mowing wheat. The whole set against a background of a landscape of hills with habitation in the background. Quality work, the colors have remained bright and the whole is in excellent condition.
