Object description :

"XIXth School: Girls Warming Up Their Dog"
French school of the XIXth century "Girls warming their dog", oil on canvas 46 X 38 cm, circa 1834/40.
This charming painting is "in its own juice". It was previously re-lined and a repaint veered in the sky, near a new accident: a recessed striped without a hole. Worth a cleaning.
He shows us two little girls, probably sisters, one stoking a fire, the other squatting, warming their dog's paws in the warmth of the fireplace.
In the background, under an open barn, another fire pit, larger this one, is powered by a shirtless man and a woman in a cap. Is this a bread oven? From a forge?
Despite a thorough examination, I did not see a signature, but did discover many details that had escaped me when I first saw ...
