"On The Morning Of The Taking Of Sfax"
"On the way the morning of the capture of Sfax". Exhibition: SOCIETE DES BEAUX ARTS DE NICE. 13TH EXHIBITION-1888-89. Mr DE Fraysseix Bonnin. Son of prefect of the Vendée, Bonnin de Fraysseix, after his studies at the high school of La Roche-sur-Yon, entered the naval school in 1855. Ensign on the "Forfait", he participated in the campaign of Mexico in 1863- 1864. He was an orderly officer of the ministers of the navy from 1867 to 1871. Commander of the "Tourville" then of the "Souverain", the sailor was promoted to frigate captain in 1881 and commanded the "Provencale" before being put on leave. Resuming service in 1885, we find Bonnin de fraysseix on the "Devastation", then the "Crown" before commanding the Toulon Gun School. Captain in 1893, with the general majority of the port of Lorient, he will be later on the cruiser "Dubourdieu" then on "Algiers". Bonnin will end his career as governor of the Prince of Monaco.
