Pair of cherubim carrying amphorae, one on the left shoulder, the other on the right shoulder. The base is in cherry marble.
Signed by Louis Kley, born in 1833 in Sens, who was apprenticed in jewelry before turning to sculpture in 1850. He exhibited between 1853 and 1897 and produced a large number of statues, statuettes, busts, medallions, groups and bas-reliefs. He received the silver medal at the 1889 World's Fair in Paris. He died in 1911 in Sens, where the municipal museum has a large collection of his works, including this one.
