From the age of 16, he followed the influence of Claude Monet who encouraged him; he participated from 1905 to 1921 at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants, then in Paris, personally, from 1922 to 1960. Settled in Saint Tropez in 1903, he met Paul Signac and was seduced by neo-impressionism and divisionism. He married Henri Lebasque's daughter in 1919 and became Matisse's friend in 1941 !! After the sights of Paris from his beginnings, he devoted himself to painting landscapes of the Mediterranean coast, on the French Riviera but also in Italy and North Africa.
