"Buffet Deux Corps En Retrait"
Two-body recessed sideboard Cabinet with two bodies made of high-quality veined walnut. It opens with four leaves framed by stylized fluted pilasters. The upper part, largely set back, is decorated on three sides with consoles carved with acanthus which support a fixed and molded cornice. The interior (see photos) is originally padded with green canvas fabrics, trimmings and small flower-shaped nails. The lower body opens with two strip drawers concealed in molding above two doors identical to the upper body. The sides are with raised panels, the uprights follow the grooves of the facade. A molded plinth surrounds the base and rests at the front on ball feet. The rear feet are straight. What more can we say, that it is very simple, extremely elegant, of perfect proportions, that the effect of shadow and light on the moldings brings out the remarkable material of the walnut wood. Finely chiseled locks (see photo) and interior ironwork are period, only the door locks have been changed. French work First half of the 17th century.
